About Mayfair Conservatories

MAYFAIR CONSERVATORIES
Mayfair Conservatories Inc. is a Canadian company with design offices located in Port Hope, Ontario, which provides service to the market area of south-central Ontario. While Mayfair has only existed as a distinct entity since 1997, it is the outgrowth of over 30 years of experience in traditional residential architecture from Christopher Wallace, Mayfair’s founder, and principal designer.
Mayfair Conservatories is a highly specialized and creative design-build company. Its projects are all custom-designed to the individual and exacting needs of its clients, and to the distinctive character of their architectural settings.
The company can provide a custom design service to clients farther afield, and under special circumstances has undertaken full installation projects in the broader Canadian and U.S. markets.

MAYFAIR GARDEN PAVILIONS
Mayfair Garden Pavilions is a division of Mayfair Conservatories Inc., devoted to the creation of elegant free-standing garden structures.
While designed to the same high aesthetic standards as the Mayfair conservatories, these garden structures are inherently less technically complex and less demanding of specialized installation trades. It is therefore possible to offer these structures to a broader market through the Internet. Mayfair offers its products to the market as a design service only (including full working drawings).
Mayfair believes that garden architecture is a sadly neglected aspect of residential design. While there are a number of standard gazebos on the residential market, there is a need for designs of greater substance and greater whimsy if we are to re-capture the pleasure that gardens used to afford us.

CHRISTOPHER WALLACE ARCHITECT (Retired)
Chris Wallace founded his architectural practice in 1979, after spending the previous decade working with international firms in England, Hong Kong, and Toronto. His practice covered a broad range of building types, including single and multiple residential, commercial/ retail projects, churches, restaurants, and resort/ hotel projects.
His work has been characterized by a sensitivity to context and respect for tradition. This has led to his recognized expertise in the fields of architectural restoration and renovation, and to his unique ability to create new architectural designs with a distinctive sense of belonging to their surroundings.
After many years of experience in the design of traditional residential structures, Mr. Wallace’s expertise grew to include a variety of heritage ‘accessory’ buildings such as Victorian conservatories and garden structures. In 1997, he founded Mayfair Conservatories, where he maintains his interest in these delightful little structures. He has since retired from his architectural practice and now provides design services only.
